This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

We are organising a craft workshop programme for the autumn season and have been granted funding to subsidise the cost to participants.

The sessions will run on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Fridays of the month, starting 15th Sept, 29th Sept, 6th Oct, 20th Oct, 3rd Nov, 17th Nov, 1st Dec, 15 Dec.
10am to 12noon at Simpson Hall

Places will be allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis.

With grant funding, workshops will cost £6 per individual workshop or £5.25 each if four or more are booked at the same time (please note that willow weaving is a two session workshop).

If a workshop is FULL, still register your interest on the reserve list as we may be able to offer places now (if participants are unable to attend) or offer more workshops in the future.

Workshop (no.1) Willow weaving

Workshop dates - 15th & 29th September

Helen says

"During the two sessions I will introduce the group to willow weaving, discuss how to prepare the willow and make some baskets on a jig that can either be used in the kitchen to store garlic or outside as birdfeeders. On the second session we will make a flat platter for fruit or bread. "

"During this session you will learn how to slab build a pot using terracotta clay. You can then decorate your pot by applying texture and adding relief motifs to create your own unique design. The pots will be fired and returned at a later date (to be confirmed). Please bring an apron or wear old clothes to work in."
(Simpson Hall will provide aprons)

" Hand Block Printing is the ancient and exciting art of patterning paper and fabric. During the course you will be able to use tradition Indian woodblocks and other original lino blocks, to create your own patterns.

We will use specialist paper to create cards and wrapping papers. "

This course introduces you to this beautiful art of painting with stitches. We will look at samples of vintage embroideries, learn about the equipment and materials needed and practice basic stitches, to set you on your embroidery journey."
