Murder in the Crypt

The Burghill & Tillington Thespians brought the house down (almost literally!) with their recent Murder Mystery production, this year written by Graham Gilbert. Set in the atmospheric surroundings of a fictional Herefordshire church, the play weaved a thrilling tale of hidden treasure, deceit, and multiple identities.

In the 1930s the restoration of a crumbling plinth beneath the effigies of Sir Hector and Lady Maud unearthed a tantalizing mystery. The discovery of a small casket sparked speculation of priceless treasures within. However, this was just the tip of the iceberg, as cleverly concealed identities of those representing interested parties, shrouded the true casket contents hidden deep within the burial chamber.

The talented cast delivered another entertaining performance, keeping the audience guessing throughout the night. With red herrings aplenty and twists galore.

A special mention goes to Charlie for providing a delicious supper and Jan for the delectable afternoon cakes. These culinary delights perfectly complemented the theatrical experience.

The Burghill & Tillington Thespians deserve a round of applause for their hard work and dedication. Not only did they deliver a thoroughly enjoyable performance, but the event’s proceeds of £526 will also be generously split between the Village Hall and the local Girl Guides, making this a fantastic community event.

If you’re looking for an evening of intrigue, amusement and local support, then be sure to catch the Burghill & Tillington Thespians’ next production, Murder at Will !

Verdict: A charming murder mystery with a generous helping of community spirit!
